Q: Can I request more than one chapter from a book via Document Supply, even if I place separate requests?

A:

According to Copyright Act 1968 Section 40 Fair dealing for purpose of research or study,  a fair dealing is 10 per cent of the pages of a work if the work has more than 10 pages in total, or 10 per cent of the words of a work in electronic form, or one chapter if the work is divided into chapters.

In short, the maximum copy or scan allowed is either one chapter or 10 percent of a book. For example, if the book has a page count of 400+ pages and two chapters totals less than 40 pages then these two chapters can be supplied.

Note this rule still applies even if you request different parts of the same book separately.
